Scores on the doors… it’s kink, who knew! The BDSM survey is back for another year and we’re curious to see what you’re into.
Locktober, International Fisting Day on the 21st, Erotic Humiliation Day on the 22nd, and Kink Day on the 6th! If you’re in bondage it’s a busy month. So, what kind of kinks are leading the charge?
The Kinkly Curious
We asked you what kink you’d like to know more about, and there was one standout winner. Edging took the podium place with 37% of all votes.
Kink Chosen Ones
There was no question about what BDSM activity tickles your fantasy the most. No matter who you are or where you responded from, Bondage (47%) was everyone’s favourite. Young or old, you just want to be tied up or tie someone down. However, this is actually down from last year! On the other hand, interest in gagging (11%) is as low as ever.
Unsurprisingly, your most used BDSM toys or gear followed suit, and 49% of you regularly use restraints. Especially our Twitter followers, over half of you have some faithful fetish fetters.
Let’s Get Niche
If you’d been united so far, this is where things got competitive. When it came to what material turns you on most communities were divided: lace or latex?
Facebook and Instagram strongly favoured lace, this lingerie staple peaked at 49% and 52% respectively. However, on Twitter (sorry, X) it was latex with 44.4% of their votes. I wonder what this says about your average Meta user compared to a twitterer? But, then – something of a surprise – Twitter users rated lower than Instagram replies when asked if they had ever called a sexual partner ‘mommy’ or ‘daddy’.
Sure, it was a close thing, but it still far outperformed any other user base. On Twitter, 62.3% said no to using these names, while 95% on Facebook don’t call their partner by a parental honorific. Is it an age thing? A parenthood thing? Is it the crossover with the ‘bookstagram’ community and their thing for authority figures (supernatural themes optional)? Who knows!
Gettin’ Freaky
As much as we encourage you all to embrace your fetishes, people are still a bit shy about sharing their desires. 49% of all responses admit to having a uniform kink – c’mon it’s time to embrace your fantasy! It’s not like it’s uncommon, so crack out the costumes. Honestly, who hasn’t thought about sliding down a fit fireman‘s pole or letting a sexy policewoman strip-search you?
However, the results were truly mixed when it came to the runners-up. Spitting received 15% of the vote on Instagram, but foot fetish was more popular on Facebook with 33%, and 23.6% of Twitter users voted for watersports.
