A History of LGBT Foundation
Created from a merger between Healthy Gay Manchester and Manchester Lesbian & Gay Switchboard Services (MLGSS), the Lesbian & Gay Foundation was born in April 2000. Since 1975, they have provided help and support for many LGBTQ+ people, and as their needs have evolved, so has the foundation; changing and morphing to become more inclusive and fostering queer hope and joy.
Today, the Foundation is true to its history of grassroots activism and community involvement, becoming fully trans-inclusive in 2015, and changing its name to LGBT Foundation.

LGBT Foundation has grown to be one of the largest charities of their kind in the UK, supporting over 40,00 people nationally each year through their wide range of services and programmes; check out how they can help you.
In 2021/2022, they distributed:
- Distributed 72,101 loose condoms and 79,714 sachets of lube at events and spaces across Greater Manchester
- Distributed 56,420 safer sex packs to 29 venues across the Gay Village in Manchester
- Responded to 3,142 calls and 1,223 emails through the helpline.
