Clitoral Orgasm vs G-Spot Orgasm – What’s the Difference?

Is an orgasm just an orgasm?

Technically speaking, yes. An orgasm is an intense sensation experienced in the pleasure centres of the brain and felt all over the body.

The World English Dictionary defines ‘orgasm’ as;

1. the most intense point during sexual excitement, characterized by extremely pleasurable sensations and, in the male, accompanied by ejaculation of semen

2. intense or violent excitement

So with that in mind, what is the difference between a clitoral and a vaginal orgasm?

Know Your Orgasm

As I’m sure you’re all pleasantly aware, your genitals contain thousands of nerve endings. When stimulated, signals are sent back to the brain and the stimulation is recognised as pleasurable.

Orgasms create a rush of dopamine, changes in emotion and changes in muscle tension. Post-climax, you may feel more relaxed, more trusting and less anxious. An orgasm can also alleviate pain (so no more excuses of having a headache!).

Fun fact: When chemically observed in the brain, an orgasm looks 95% similar to heroin use.

What’s Better: Clitoral or G-Spot?

While they’re the same phenomenon, clitoral and G-spot orgasms can feel very different – both during and after climax.

Generally speaking, a clitoral orgasm feels more intense. This is because the clit has a higher concentration of nerve endings in a small area. Meanwhile, the G-spot orgasm is meant to be more satisfying and relaxing.

Think of the clit as a quick, powerful hit and the G-spot orgasm a slower, more sensual process.

Sigmund Freud famously described the vaginal orgasm (G-spot) as the mature orgasm, and the clit climax as the immature orgasm. Supposedly, when a woman reaches sexual maturity and is having sex with her husband, she transfers feelings of sexual pleasure from her clitoris to her vagina.

Freud was a smart guy, but we believe women of all ages can enjoy both clitoral and vaginal orgasms.

Clit-tastic

Out of the two, the clitoral orgasm is arguably the easiest to achieve. Sitting outside of the body and easy to find, the clit can be stimulated with relatively little effort.

If you’re struggling to finish the job on your own or want to take your pleasure to the next level, why not introduce a sex toy? With a vibrator, you are guaranteed much more vigorous stimulation than your wrist could ever provide!

Hit the (G-)Spot

The G-spot sits a couple of inches inside the vagina on the front wall. You can find it by hand if you insert a couple of fingers and create a “come hither” motion towards your belly button. However, the easiest way to locate it is with an ‘angled’ sex toy.

G-spot vibrators feature specially curved tips and often bulbous designs to target the erogenous zone. We highly recommend trying one of these toys! If you’ve struggled to stimulate your G-spot, one of these vibes could be the key.

Feeling Greedy?

So now we’ve looked at both the clit and G-spot, but which is best? Honestly, it’s down to personal preference – or be greedy and have a blended orgasm!

Rabbit vibrators are designed to stimulate you both internally and externally. This popular shape of toy is praised all over the world! Discover a huge range of styles as you explore a variety of clitoral arms. Plus, if it’s G-spot stimulation you’re after, keep an eye out for one which features the curved tip.

There’s no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to orgasms – otherwise, we wouldn’t need a blog post on it! However, the good news is that you can have a LOT of fun figuring it out!
