Like many aphrodisiacs, the shape of an avocado gives it away immediately. Low hanging, bulbous and soft when ripe, what more could a sexy food be?
In fact the ancient Aztecs called the avocado tree ‘ahuacuati’ which roughly translates as ‘testicle tree’ due to the many similarities in looks. So similar that it offended the Catholic priests in Spain who consequently had the consumption of this creamy fruit banned!
Looks aside, this fruit is made of more than just a ball-like shape and as the saying goes: He’s not very sexy, but he does Avocado!
The green and smooth inner flesh of this food is crammed full of nourishing goodness such as folic acid, vitamin B6, potassium, omega 3 fatty acids and good fats that promote the production of testosterone. If you’ve been keeping up with the Eat Yourself Sexy blogs then you’ll be well aware that testosterone is essential for a healthy and passionate sex life.
If you’re new to the avocado game and are wondering how you eat them then worry not. It couldn’t be simpler to enjoy this fruit. In fact, the more simplistic the recipe the better the taste is often likely to be.
For real newbies, first check the avocado is ripe by squeezing it slightly, it should feel soft and slightly squishy beneath the skin, but not overly so. Then slice into it and run the knife around the inner stone, twisting the two sides apart for an even cut. The inside of the avocado should be light green and not black.
Remove the stone and scoop the flesh out with a spoon, into a bowl and serve with olive oil, sea salt and a twist of black pepper. That is literally all you need to do.
For further avocado-y deliciousness try spreading it on toast, tossing into a salad, adding to a sandwich, blending it up with cocoa powder and honey to make luxurious chocolate pudding, serving with lime juice and smoked salmon, bake an egg straight into the stone hole for a protein rich snack… The list is endless the tasty potential goes on and on.
I truly believe that it is nature’s gift to us that this versatile, creamy and delicious food is not only super healthy, but it’ll put you in the mood as well.
Thank you Mother Nature, you’re a kinky minx and we love you!
