It’s Valentine’s Day on Sunday – how exciting!
Valentine’s Day is like Marmite; you either love it or you hate it – but, unlike Marmite your feelings towards this holiday likely depend on your relationship status. This year I’m single and probably going to a “Love Stinks, Let’s Drink” singles party with a few of my other single friends. But what about if you’re married to an inanimate object like the Eiffel Tower?
Don’t let being single of Valentine’s Day get you down! Embrace the single life!
So, what is St Valentine’s Day all about?
Well I’m sure that back in the days of old it had some fantastic, spiritual meaning, but just like any modern holiday, Valentine’s Day is about chocolates, clichéd cards and buying as much cheap rubbish for your other half as possible.
However, if you’d like to do better than a teddy bear and Asda flowers then you need to be romantic! Perhaps a hot bubble bath, a candle lit dinner or a relaxing oil massage followed by a passionate session in the bedroom? There really are no end of ways to impress your lover on V Day.
Romancing your partner will most certainly win you some serious girlfriend/boyfriend points this February 14th, but what does romance have to do with fetish? You’re hardly going to see a gimp mask in the window of Clinton Cards, nor will you see urethral sounding rods next to the choccies in M&S… so why am I talking about romance on Fetish Friday?
Well, let me ask you a question; what is the world’s most romantic city?
There may be a few answers to that question but I’m sure most of you will say Paris.
And where would you say is the most romantic place in all of Paris to take your partner on Valentine’s Day?
Perhaps… the Eiffel Tower?
Well the Eiffel Tower is actually a fetish!
Erika La Tour Eiffel is a forty-something women from San Francisco who MARRIED the Eiffel Tower!
Sure, lots of women dream of being proposed to at the Eiffel Tower, but marrying the tower its self is taking things several steps further…
On the day of the wedding, many of Erika’s friends attended the ceremony and Erika even had her last name legally changed to reflect the matrimony. Erika stars in a fascinating documentary which you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xInWMRzEan8
The Eiffel Tower may me one of the world’s most love inspiring landmarks but it’s not necessarily the romance of Paris that turned Erika on – she’d had relationships with inanimate objects before! Mrs. La Tour Eiffel, before entering into a committed relationship with the metal structure, once had an intimate relationship with a fence that she kept in her bedroom. She also admits being fond of the Berlin Wall.
But wait Erika, the Berlin Wall is spoken for…
Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer, whose surname means Berlin Wall in German, has been “married” to the Berlin Wall for more than 30 years!
Having a sexual attraction to an inanimate object is the textbook definition of a fetish;
“A form of sexual desire in which gratification is linked to an abnormal degree to a particular object, item of clothing, part of the body, etc.”
So why are some people attracted to non-human objects?
Well in a lot of cases it’s to do with control. A human partner can lie to you, hurt you and leave you… it would take a lot of heavy machinery for the Eiffel Tower to up and leave!
An object can be completely controlled and essentially be whatever you want it to be.
So, if you’ve found yourself to be in a controlling relationship, break it off and tell them to hook up with the garage door instead.
Happy Valentine’s Day.
