What is a Dildo?

A dildo (or, as it is sometimes spelled, dildoe) is a traditional sex toy used by both men and women. According to Wikipedia, the word "dildo" originally referred to the "phallus-shaped peg used to lock an oar in position on a dory (small boat)." Dildos may be used in masturbation or with a partner (or partners, depending on how ambitious you are). While dildos come in many sizes, shapes, and materials, most often they are penis or phallus-shaped. Some dildos are specially made for insertion in the anus. Men who like anal sex often choose dildos that massage the prostate because of the intense orgasms prostate massage gives them.

What Dildos Are Made Of

Dildos come in a wide variety of materials, including glass, steel, cyberskin, PVC, silicone rubber, or jelly-rubber. Some glass dildos are quite beautiful, and look like works of art. If sharing a dildo, make sure to properly clean it with a sex toy cleaner. Do not use a silicone based lube with a silicone rubber dildo because the lube will damage the dildo. Use a water-based lube.

How To Use A Dildo

The most common dildo uses are vaginal and/or anal penetration. Depending on the type of dildo, some may be used as gags or for oral penetration. Regardless of your sexual orientation, whether you are gay or straight, male or female, there is a dildo out there to please your sexual proclivities. Double dildos may be used between two partners at once. These dildos can be used for simultaneous anal and vaginal penetration, and when used in this fashion sex play can be quite exciting. Dildos also fit into harness mounts for bondage play.

Interesting Historical Facts About Dildos

The oldest known dildo was a stone phallus found in Germany, and it dated back 30,000 years. According to archeologists, ancient Egyptians used dildos 2,500 years ago. Ancient Greeks also used them. The dildo has an interesting and illustrious history.
