A Beginner’s Guide to Bondage

Up until now, perhaps my Fetish Friday blog is just some light reading – not something you’d actually consider doing! Maybe it’s time to indulge your fantasies and delve into the ever-exciting world of bondage and BDSM. Our Beginner’s Guide to Bondage is here to help!

If you’re new to bondage, try not to take it too seriously and have fun with it! After all, that’s what you’re there for! Try engaging in a little role play, discovering who better suits the Dominant and Submissive roles. You might even be a ‘switch’ and enjoy both.

I often fantasise about Bondage– but where do I start?

Surprising your partner with a bedroom full of chains, hooks and electric sex toys, with a silent gimp kneeling in the corner, is probably not the best way to start.

Generally,  I’d suggest something like “try using a silk scarf as a blindfold” or “gently tie your partner’s wrists together using a soft neck tie”. However, you’re reading Fetish Friday, and you don’t come here for the soft and gentle, so this Beginner’s Guide to Bondage starts with something a little more robust!

Tie and Tease

Restraining your partner is an excellent way to experiment with BDSM and discover your limits.

A bed restraint slips under your mattress and features wrist AND ankle cuffs. Tie your playmate to the bed and have your wicked way with them!

You could also introduce a hogtie to force your partner into all kinds of provocative positions.

Bondage Blindfolds

Using a blindfold can be a fantastic way to explore your kinks. Stimulating your partner’s body whilst one of their senses is restricted will intensify every sensation. Plus, you’ll love the suspense and control!

When your partner is blindfolded, tease, confuse, pleasure or discipline them. You can be as creative as you like when doing this, using your hands, feathers, ice, a spanking paddle – whatever your imagination allows!

Beginner’s Ball Gags

A ball gag is a fantastic toy for couples who want to take their bedroom play to the extreme. Using a gag can be highly arousing, from the submissive element to the visual excitement.

You should always determine a safe word before BDSM play. However, by its nature, a ball gag isn’t great for communication! Instead, agree on a signal. This could be two finger-taps on the side of the neck or crossing of arms. Be sure to keep in mind any other restraints you’re using! Both parties should always be able to clearly communicate ‘STOP‘.

Stingy Spankers

A spanking crop is a truly delicious addition to anyone’s BDSM kit. Not quite as extreme as a cane or a whip, but a little more authoritative than a hand, a crop can deliver a thrilling sting. The wide leather head can be used to deliver some firm, over-the-knee punishment and turn the skin a blushing pink.

The intensity of the punishment is up to you as a couple. If you’re a complete beginner, start lightly and keep ensuring that the receiver is enjoying the sensation. If you’re more experienced, it may be appropriate to use a lot more force.

There is a thin line between pain and pleasure. Gently spanking your partner will stimulate blood flow, making their skin all the more sensitive to the touch.

Tempting Ticklers

The soft feathers of a tickler can be highly pleasurable. Not painful in the slightest, feather ticklers offer more sensual, erotic stimulation. Pair a tickler with a blindfold and lull your partner into a state of submissive bliss.
